Frequently Asked Questions

How do I scan a barcode?

Tap "Scan a Barcode" on the home screen or use the camera icon in the tab bar. Point your camera at any food product barcode and WiseBite will look it up automatically.

Where is my data stored?

All your data is stored locally on your device. WiseBite does not collect, upload, or share any personal information. Deleting the app removes all data.

What barcode formats are supported?

WiseBite supports EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, and CODE-128 barcode formats.

How are health ratings calculated?

Health ratings are based on ingredient analysis using our database of over 6,800 ingredients. Each ingredient is rated individually, and the overall product score is a weighted average. WiseBite also calculates Nutri-Score (A-E) and NOVA food processing levels.

Can I use WiseBite offline?

WiseBite requires an internet connection to look up product data. However, previously scanned products are cached locally for quick access.
